2024 XION Year in Review
In 2024 XION achieved hyper-growth, expanding its ecosystem across all facets from regional communities all around the world, to world-class applications deployed, to millions of users on its network. Here's a look back at many of the achievements.
2024 for XION can be summed up quite easily — pure, relentless shipping.
It saw its community scale at breakneck speed across more than 130 countries, the network achieved over 89 million transactions, 4 million Meta Accounts, dozens of strategic integrations, all resulting in an ecosystem of over 200 quality apps and integrations. In addition, towards the end of the year, XION successfully transitioned to mainnet - achieving incredible growth right from the start.
Throughout the year, XION faced challenges head-on, pushed the boundaries of being the first truly UX-first L1, and proved that scalability, speed, and decentralization don’t have to come at a cost to user experience.

January 15th, 2024: XION launches its Generalized Abstraction testnet.
January 16th, 2024: XION reaches more than 100,000 users on its testnet in just under 24 hours.
January 19th, 2024: Formerly an Inner Syndicate, Burnt Maska joins the Business Development team at XION.
January 24th, 2024: XION reaches 250,000 Syndicates on Discord.
January 25th, 2024: Crash Game launches on XION, showcasing Generalized Abstraction in action.
Crash Game was one of the most successful launches on XION, with a whopping 2 million transactions in just 24 hours, reaching 11,000 requests per second.
February 2nd, 2024: XION launches #XionEverywhere, showcasing the ability to use XION from virtually anywhere and any device including from an Xbox, Apple Watch, Tesla car, Blackberry, Apple Vision Pro, and more.
February 5th, 2024: XION integrates with Band Protocol, providing high-speed data queries, cross-chain compatibility, and customizable data feeds to XION builders.
February 6th, 2024: XION begins working with CollegeDAO Hub to expand its reach to the best universities in the world.
February 8th, 2024: BlockX (formerly BetFi) launches on XION, becoming the first consumer-friendly Web3 mobile gaming marketplace.
February 10th, 2024: XION hits 10M transactions on its chain.
February 13th, 2024: XION integrates with Halborn, an industry leader in cyber security, to ensure all applications deploying on XION are secure.
February 19th, 2024: Aeroscraper launches its stablecoin lending and borrowing app on XION.
February 29th, 2024: The team lands in Colorado for ETHDenver.
March 1st, 2024: Moseiki, an Abstractathon winner, launches on XION, becoming the first user-friendly decentralized social network.
March 7th, 2024: Burnt Banksy sets himself on fire in New York City marking the 3 year anniversary of the burning of the Banksy and announcing the upcoming mainnet launch.
March 18th, 2024: XION launches its new Fungible Duality token standard, enabling novel use cases that involve fractional ownership and loyalty systems.
March 20th, 2024: XION joins the Open Liquidity Network to enhance liquidity and user experience.
March 22nd, 2024: XION unveils its staking dashboard on testnet.
April 1st, 2024: XION raises $25M in a strategic round from the likes of Animoca Brands, Multicoin Capital, Spartan Capital, and Arrington Capital to make crypto disappear.
April 8th, 2024: XION partners with Mocaverse, intending to bring Chain Abstraction to one of the most vibrant gaming ecosystems in the industry.
April 21st, 2024: XION hits Discord’s 500,000 user limit, then hurtles past it after the platform increases the server’s capacity.
April 24th, 2024: Burnt Banksy posts a job description for the role of Cult Leader, before promptly taking the role for himself.
April 25th, 2024: XION brings Chain Abstraction to Injective, creating 200,000 interchain accounts within a few days, the most interchain accounts ever created.
April 30th, 2024: Notifi integrates with XION, bringing real-time notifications to projects across XION’s expansive ecosystem.
May 2nd, 2024: XION integrates with BNB Chain via Toki, bringing XION a step closer to addressing widespread fragmentation in Web3.
May 9th, 2024: XION brings Chain Abstraction to SAGA’s chainlets, scaling Chain Abstraction to numerous new chains horizontally.
May 13th, 2024: XION’s X followers hit 600,000.
May 14th, 2024: Pyth launches on XION, empowering app builders to leverage high-quality data to create the next generation of consumer-ready applications.
May 16th, 2024: XION integrates with Avalanche via Landslide, bringing Chain Abstraction to the AVAX ecosystem.
May 23rd, 2024: XION integrates with Analog, expanding Chain Abstraction to numerous new chains.
May 30th, 2024: EarnOS launches on XION, disrupting a $1T advertising industry, and enabling major household names such as Uber, Baskin Robbins, the North Face, and Sunglass Hut to leverage chain abstraction to effortlessly acquire, reward & engage global customers.
Empowered by XION’s Chain Abstraction, EarnOS disrupts the trillion-dollar advertising industry by allowing brands to acquire, reward, and engage with verifiable audiences in novel ways.
June 6th, 2024: Burnt Banksy publishes his vision piece, highlighting EarnOS’s success and how this marks a turning point for XION and Web3 as a whole, as apps are created to fulfil real-world use cases outside the industry.
June 11th, 2024: XION bringing Chain Abstraction to Solana via Picasso, becoming one of the most interconnected L1s.
June 21st, 2024: XION publishes its “What is Chain Abstraction?” piece, highlighting the seven facets through which XION approaches Web3’s longstanding UX problem.
June 26th, 2024: XION integrates with Neutron, enabling frictionless interoperability through chain abstraction.
The demo showcased how XION users could interact with Neutron without leaving XION, grappling with cross-chain complexities, paying gas, managing seed phrases, or dealing with any other barriers to widespread adoption.
June 26th, 2024: Digital Frontier publishes a piece on XION’s community and culture.
July 8th, 2024: The team landed in Brussels for EthCC.
July 17th, 2024: XION integrates with Hyperlane, bringing Chain Abstraction to 40+ chains across 5 VMs.
July 23rd, 2024: Burnt Banksy sits down with CryptoNews to chat about Chain Abstraction and Web3’s bright future with simplified UX.
July 26th, 2024: XION introduces Redemptions — a community-driven initiative to forever enshrine community lore on-chain.
July 31st, 2024: XionSpace launches on XION’s testnet, bringing AI-enabled digital assets to a broader audience.
August 13th, 2024: XION’s history is published on its blog, outlining how the project came to be and how it’ll solve one of the most pervasive issues in Web3.
The Zero to One post outlined how far XION had come, and the L1 it’s building to make Web3 easy and accessible for everyone.
August 14th, 2024: The XION Foundation is announced with the mission to expand the network and bring Web3 to everyone.
August 15th, 2024: Blockworks publishes Burnt Banksy’s op-ed on why blockchains should disappear.
August 17th, 2024: Highlights from community-created Redemptions are published, showcasing the Syndicates’ immense creativity, dedication, and global footprint.
August 21st, 2024: Fluxion launches on XION, quickly attracting more than 50,000 users.
Fluxion is a user-friendly Web3 launchpad that makes investing and fundraising, straightforward, intuitive, and accessible.
August 22nd, 2024: XION integrates MultiversX, bringing Chain Abstraction to its Sovereign Chains.
August 24th, 2024: BlazeSwap launches on XION’s testnet, bringing easy UX to social-fi.
Within five days, it reached over 32,000 unique users and more than $1M in total volume across 28,000 transactions. The power of XION’s distribution to users cannot be understated.
August 29th, 2024: Burnt Banksy joins investors from Figment Capital, HashKey Capital, and Spartan Capital to discuss why XION and Chain Abstraction will form one of the most important innovations in Web3.
August 30th, 2024: The Why Build on XION article is published, outlining all the benefits of building applications on XION.
September 2nd, 2024: The team lands in Korea for Korea Blockchain Week.
September 5th, 2024: XION integrated with Plume Network to bring Chain Abstraction to Real-World Assets.
September 16th, 2024: XION lands in Singapore for TOKEN2049.
September 17th, 2024: XION’s core contributors welcome ecosystem lead, Burnt Barrel, to the team.
September 20th, 2024: Burnt Banksy becomes a question on Jeopardy.
September 23rd, 2024: XION’s core contributors welcome Burnt Butter to the team as resident propaganda specialist.
September 26th 2024: XION integrates with Sei Network, bringing Chain Abstraction to Sei’s high-speed multi-VM environment.
September 30th, 2024: Burnt Banksy delivers a keynote speech at Mainnet 2024.
October 1st, 2024: XION reaches 700,000 followers on X.
October 4th, 2024: XION announces the launch of Mercle on its testnet, empowering users to manage their digital identities on XION with ease.
October 7th, 2024: XION’s core contributors welcome Burnt Toro to the team to lead Developer Relations.
October 11th, 2024: Fractit launches on XION and reaches 70,000 transactions in less than three days.
FractIt is a crowdfunding platform that democratizes global real estate investment through tokenized fractional ownership.
October 16th, 2024: XION announces its integration with Union, bringing Chain Abstraction to hundreds of new chains.
October 21st, 2024: XION’s core contributors welcome Burnt Unagi to the team, expanding its growth in the APAC region.
October 22nd, 2024: XION publishes the Korean translation of its whitepaper.
October 28th, 2024: XION’s Build Anything On XION series showcases the wide range of use cases built on XION.
November 4th, 2024: Talis deploys on XION, opening doors for independent artists to reach a wider audience through XION’s UX-focused functionality.
Talis received more than 100 applications from creators within 48 hours of launching.
November 10th, 2024: The team lands in Bangkok for Devcon.
Burnt Barrel, XION’s ecosystem lead, spoke about XION’s growth and its pursuit for the best app builders in the world at the Injective Summit.
November 12th, 2024: XION launches Believe in Something.
November 21st, 2024: The Believathon, XION’s global start-up competition, is launched.
Launched just two weeks before XION’s mainnet, the Believathon is a global online start-up competition bringing together entrepreneurs and developers to turn bold ideas into reality. Participants compete for millions in funding opportunities from top-tier investors like Animoca Brands and Figment Capital and a share of a $40,000 prize pool.
The overwhelming response to the Believathon led the team to extend its duration into the new year, allowing more builders to participate and launch their apps on XION.
November 28th, 2024: XION’s Yapper Leaderboard launches on Kaito, measuring and rewarding the true believers who drive XION’s mindshare.
December 4th, 2024: Burnt Research releases the XION token white paper, introducing Proof of Abstraction.
The white paper introduced Proof of Abstraction, a novel consensus mechanism powered by the $XION token, geared towards incentivizing builders and entrepreneurs to create UX-friendly applications on XION. $XION is an integral part of the XION chain, empowering holders to secure the network and participate in its growth & development.
December 5th, 2024: XION launches its mainnet and the $XION token, hitting 2,500 requests per second (that translates to 9,000,000 per hour).
XION became the very first mainnet and token to launch after Bitcoin hit $100k for the first time.
True to its brand, XION also launched Double or Nothing, which allowed airdrop recipients to try their luck at doubling their airdrop or losing it all.
December 9th, 2024: XION integrates with Squid, allowing users to swap any token for $XION.
December 13th, 2024: XION launches the $12.6M Anti-Grant Grant Program.
With a very high bar for acceptance, a bird’s eye view of each milestone, and a wall of shame for developers who abscond with the funds, this Anti-Grant Grant ensures XION is only backing serious builders to build their applications on XION.
December 13th, 2024: XION’s 21-hour Building on XION course goes live on HackQuest, teaching Rust developers how to build consumer-ready applications on XION.
December 17th, 2024: Kado launches on XION, empowering users to acquire $XION and $USDC from over 150 countries using credit card, Apple Pay, bank transfers, and more.
This allowed users to onboard to XION within seconds, using a wide range of easy, consumer-ready payment methods.
December 19th, 2024: Early Access to the Promethean Saga is launched.
The multi-month Saga, which will feature new app launches, ecosystem expansion, and community initiatives, calls upon XION’s growing user base to carry the torch and light the path to a truly user-friendly Web3. Users are now invited to experience XION’s user experience capabilities which rival that of Web2.
December 20th, 2024: XION celebrates 1M transactions on mainnet within 24 hours of launching the Early Access to the Promethean Saga.
December 22nd, 2024: Mercle launches on XION’s mainnet, introducing dynamic and fully composable identities which span across XION and connected ecosystems.
Mercle’s Identity Relics are now symbols of reputation, growth, and progress in the Promethean Saga. They were uniquely designed to mirror Prometheus' arduous quest for enlightenment, bringing fire (knowledge) to humanity.
December 22nd, 2024: Talis launches Blaise, its very first collection, on mainnet.
December 24th, 2025: Community Redemptions go live on mainnet, showcasing artwork on XION’s lore and supporting lore creators. Users also experienced XION’s quick and seamless process for acquiring Redemptions.
December 25th, 2024: XION launches the Blaze Syndicate 2.0, a fully revamped ambassador program to continue increasing the global community growth around the world.
Having already initiated more than 1 million cult members from over 130 countries, Blaze Syndicates are at the forefront of XION’s meteoric rise over the years. Blaze Syndicate 2.0 allows high-quality contributors to earn more, emphasizes recruitment of new cult members, and has an enhanced reward pool and distribution of $XION. It also features an additional level, called “The Crusaders”, reserved for Syndicates who go above and beyond.
A Foundation Set for 2025 Hyper Growth
XION experienced over 83 major milestones in the last 12 months alone, proving once again its differentiating speed and execution in building a long-lasting ecosystem. Between growing its user base and Syndicates to over 5 million and onboarding hundreds of new XION builders to build the next generation of consumer-ready applications, XION’s future is looking brighter than ever.
As 2024 comes to an end, the support XION has gotten from its community of users, Syndicates, contributors, and partners cannot be overstated. XION has laid a strong foundation for the future of Web3 and the journey is just beginning.
